Looking for summer youth activities? CAMP has an exciting opportunity for families with children entering the 4th, 5th and 6th grades. CAMP has partnered with IslandWood Learning Center (www.islandwood.org) to send 12 youth to their week-long overnight camp.

At IslandWood’s “Sleep-Away” Camp, educator’s combine scientific inquiry, technology and the arts to help Puget Sound-area students discover natural connections with the outdoors. Participants will explore the outdoors, collecting data on animals, insects, plants and fish, visiting tree houses, creating artwork, and more.

IslandWood specializes in:
• Delivering experiential “hands-on” education
• Using the environment as a classroom
• Engaging diverse learning styles
• Integrating science, technology and the arts
• Showcasing environmentally unsustainable practices

Dates for the Overnight Camp: July 31st to August 5th 2011
Location: IslandWood, Bainbridge Island
IslandWood Learning Center is located on Bainbridge Island near Seattle in Washington State. IslandWood is located on a unique 255-acre outdoor learning center designed to provide exceptional learning experiences and inspire life-long environmental and community stewardship.

Eligibility:
CAMP is excited to provide this opportunity to children of families that would otherwise not be able to experience IslandWood due to costs. Tuition will be provided on a first- come, first- served basis for children of families that:
Are at 150% of the Federal Poverty Level or below
• Are willing to provide a post experience evaluation and essay
• Are willing to participate in a focus group aimed at developing conservation education strategies for kids and families (approximately 2 hours)

Parents/Guardians of participants will be responsible for covering costs of incidental supplies and transportation.
