CAMP assists income eligible families and individuals in obtaining, conserving, and maintaining adequate energy resourcess. Several programs are available to income eligible households to make home energy use more affordable, avoid shutoff of utility services during the winter, and maintain a warm and safe environment especially for the elderly, the disabled, and households with young children under the age of six years.

These guidelines determine eligibility for Energy Assistance programs.

(for earned income, duduct 20% from monthly gross; unemployment income taxed at the time of payout deduct 10%)

Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

LIHEAP, CAMP’s largest service, is federally funded and designed to help income eligible households Through LIHEAP, CAMP has been able to assist over 7000 households, providing over $2 million in assistance yearly.

Qualifications:
Households at 125% or below the poverty guidelines living within the Seattle City limits. We serve households south of 145th St. and north of 96th and Roxbury St.

Provides:

  • Heating bill assistance up to $1000 annually
  • Energy conservation education
  • Support for window repair, chimney cleaning, and furnace repair or replacement up to $5000

Availability:
Funds are available from December 15th, 2009 through August 15th, 2010.

Puget Sound Energy’s HELP

HELP provides assistance with the cost of natural gas consumption to qualified Puget Sound Energy (PSE) natural gas customers with an account in their name or in the name of a member of their household.

Qualifications:
Households at 150% or below of the poverty guidelines living within the Seattle City limits.

Provides:

  • Puget Sound Energy customers help with their home energy costs
  • Natural gas bill assistance up to $1000 annually

Availability:
Year-round. Program year begins October 1st and ends September 30th.

Documents Needed

  • Social Security Cards for all adults 18+ years
  • Picture identification for the applicant
  • Proof of children living in the household: Medical Coupon, Social Security Card, Birth Certificate
  • Income documentation for three months prior to the application for each member of the household 18+years
  • A current energy bill
  • Lease or rental agreement, mortgage or property tax statement
